​\'s ninth season this week. But don\'t expect there to be any major plot developments or cliffhangers as we look ahead to the big finale.

\'The Line Substitution Solution\' felt like an episode of

​ old. But it was as if we were watching a first season episode where the guys had travelled back in time with their newfound relationship issues while still trying to cling on to their carefree, yet lonely, days.

​ setup: queuing in line for a nerdy Q&A from Joss Whedon (sadly no cameo). Despite the generic setting, it did at least throw up a challenge for Sheldon and Amy\'s relationship.

GoT season 6 episode 2 review: The twists keep coming

With Sheldon needing to take Amy shopping, he enlisted Stuart to take his place – not in the queue, in Amy\'s car. While it was a shame to see Sheldon go back to his old crap-boyfriend ways, it was clever of the writers to show Amy not kicking off for once. Plus, it was great to see Stuart with something interesting to do and not completely dragging down the episode.

When Sheldon came over to give a half-arsed apology before rushing back to the line, she realised that although she was disappointed, this was still a big moment for Sheldon. It\'s a learning process for him and he never does anything dickish on purpose. So, the fact that he came over at all when he definitely wouldn\'t have done before, is a subtle way of showing how strong their relationship is.

And that is something that you can\'t easily say about Leonard and Penny, but we won\'t bang on about that again this week. Here, Penny hung out with Leonard\'s stern mother Beverley (Christine Baranski), and it was a rather anticlimactic B-plot.

Instead of any genuine conflict between the two, Penny just had to deal with the kind of crap that Beverley gives Leonard all the time. After Beverley made it clear that she wasn\'t happy that the pair got married without inviting her, the awkwardness just got... Solved pretty quickly. So we\'ll probably expect some kind of wedding ceremony next week for the finale, where no doubt we\'ll get some kind of Leonny drama.

This week\'s episode was by no means awful, it in fact had several moments that made us chuckle (especially the quote below), which is more than most of this season. But we were disappointed that it certainly didn\'t feel like the penultimate episode.

Still, at least we didn\'t have any of Raj\'s crap this week.
