Question about Eric/Sookie/Bill...

So I've watched the show and I'm going to read the books, but I was wondering about the "triangle".

I'm all for Eric/Sookie, so what I want to know is if there is any hope for them.

I am reading the books actually, it's just that I don't want to get to involved in a couple if they are sort of doomed from the start... been there done that :)
