They have to! I mean, for 3 seasons they are building their relationship up and it's getting better and better.
Therefor Elena-Stefan was something like "we-are-sooo-in-love-since-the-first-episode". That is not interesting and not real, imo.
Some things, like her saying she will not love a ghost for the rest of her life tends to she's really facing it's over with Stefan and Damon is the right one for her. And hey, what about the last eps?! I remember at least two scenes there I could bet Elena looked like she (not Damon!) would start kissing Damon...

Yes, I actually think they have wonderful chemistry together. Their personalities are very different but they balance each other out well. I think Stefan works better with Katherine.

Elena: boring. he and elena dont work that well. the old stephan was boring and he worked better with Elena despite the fact i found them the most boring couple in history of television.

Yes. Elena and Damon have much more romantic chemistry and a much stronger bond of friendship than Elena and Stefan.

lol..this could be a messy question to ask! but ok...I think the writers may go down that road for a bit. I don't mind it! but I honestly don't see them together permanately. I see some definate chemistry between them; but Damon has alot of issues to work through and he doesn't choose Elena from a good healthy place. Meaning, he chose to pursue her as a direct consequence of his Katherine complex. Damon needs to choose who he wants with a clear head and a healed heart. As far as Elena goes, she cares for Damon but is trying a rebound out with him to recover from her loss of Stefan. She's hurting, so she's looking for a band aid. The real question is: would elena have chosen damon right now if she had an option to be with Stefan? if stefan hadn't been taken from her by Klaus forcing him to turn off his love/humanity? No. I don't know what the writers have for Damon and Elena's relationship, but this isn't their pemanant time. and I know everyone Damon, Elena, and/or Delena fan wants their relationship to come at the prfect time if it's meant to be!
