I’m smiling again.
There they are. Y/N, Danny and I are sitting on the couch all together, watching football.
“Daddy, my favorite team is the Bears.” Danny smiles.
“The Bears?” I ask. “Why? They’re all the way in Chicago, bud.”
“Because,” he rolls his eyes. “They’re bears. Bears are tough.”
“Why don’t you like the Cowboys, like the rest of us do?” Y/N asks Danny.
“Because if a cowboy and a bear got into a fight, who would win?” He asks. I chuckle at his little kid logic. “Obviously the bear would win.”
“What makes you think that?”
“Trust me, daddy. Bears would win.” He grins.
And his smile fades, along with his face, the while scene.
I wake up, all sweaty. It was just a dream.
I roll over to her side of the bed.
Well it used to be her side if the bed.
I’ve been having these dreams every night since the crash.
I reach to the night stand, finding the bottle of scotch.
I take a swig, burning my throat.
Hopefully it will knock me out, letting me have more dreams of my family.
The only reason I’m living right now is for my beer… And my dreams.
