Question about demon possession!

Hey, I just wanted to know that when a person gets possessed by a demon, do they remember what they have done while being possessed? like in s2 when Sammy was possessed by Meg, was he aware that he went after Jo first and then Dean? Or does a person's memory stay blank for that period??

Sometimes they remember but sometimes they don't...like when Sam wakes up and can't remember a damn thing after a week....and the possessed person will usually mention whether or not they remember bits and pieces of that time.So I suppose the answer is sometimes some people remember some things about the time they were being driven around by someone else.LOL!That wasn't confusing at all,now was it?
