End of Chapter 14
***Edward's POV***
"What do you want Jasper?" I asked, not trying to hide the anger in my tone.
"Edward, I just called to tell you I'm sorry. What I said was childish and uncalled for, I should not have said or thought those things...it was uncalled for."
"Yeah, you could say that." I said quietly. "Listen Jasper...I just need some time, I will be home once I get my thoughts in order."
"Edward, are you alright?" He asked, his tone full of sincerity.
"Yeah..." I said, my sentence being cut off by the tone of a young girls voice. "Gotta go, I'll call later."
I hung up the phone before anyone could say anything, my body turning to run out of the door. I slowed myself as I reached for the door handle, knowing that if I burst out the door I would just scare the poor thing. I stopped and counted to ten before I wrenched the door open doing my best to control my surprise when I saw the young girl standing outside my door, her hand raised and her cheeks flushing in embarrassment.
Chapter 15
***Jasper's POV***
We knew that Edward was safe, we knew that he needed some time alone..and for the rest of the family they knew that this all was my fault. I had been the one who fought with Edward, who had said the horrible things I would take back if it were possible.
At times like this having the ability to feel others emotions was not such a good thing. I knew that everyone was mad at me, blamed me for making Edward run off...breaking up our family. Alice told me that she wasn't mad at me, but her emotions told me another story. I tried to just deal with the emotions, to keep my head down and ignore everyone's feelings to go about life as normal but every time I walked into a room it was like jumping into a pool...I was drowning in everyone's emotions. I put up with it as long as I could but after a day of the looks and everyone telling me it wasn't my fault but hating me at the same time..I had to get out, had to get away.
"Jazz?" Alice called as I walked to the back door.
"I can't handle it Alice, I'm gonna go hunting." I said as I pulled on my jacket and reached for the door.
"Please," She said as her hand wrapped around mine, pulling away from the door.
I turned and looked at her, the smile on her face sweet and full of love and longing..the emotions flowing out of her conflicted. I knew Alice better then anyone in this house, and because of that I knew that she was torn. She missed Edward, the two of them were close and had an understanding that no one else could understand. They truly were like siblings, like brother and sister who looked out for and took care of each other. On the other hand, she loved me...was my soul mate..my other half. She knew I regretted what was said, but also knew that I believed what I said.
"Alice," I sighed, her emotions giving me a 'headache.'
"Jazz, I know you're leaving." She whispered. "Please, please don't leave me."
"Alice," I sighed as I pulled her into my arms and hugged her tightly.
"There's only one way I can think of fixing this." I said as I kissed her head.
"Please take me with you."
"Not this time love, I have to make this right. It's my fault that he left and I am the only one would can make this right."
"Jazz," She sighed as she hugged me tighter. "I love you and I'm sorry...I know you feel everyone's emotions..including mine."
"Alice,"
"No..I know I haven't been fooling you and for that I am sorry. You know how much I love you and trust you, but..." She said, the sorrow flooding out of her.
"Alice, please don't. I know." I said as I kissed her sweetly. "I'll be back soon, I just have to go get him and bring him back. We'll be home soon, I promise." I said as I kissed her again, and turned to run out the back door.
I was just about to the river when I heard her say something..but only caught part of it. I know I heard her say it wouldn't be easy and to be cautious of the brown eyed girl.
