Chapter 9
The two girls were sat on the Hermione’s bed, one held the other why she sobbed softly into her hands, no attempt to speak was made, they stayed in silence for what must have been over an hour before the red haired girl sat up, rubbing her hand across her tired, brown eyes. She cleared her raw throat and a quiet rasping noise came out, her voice scratchy from crying, yet she could still be heard.
“It was the only thing I could think off, the only really close friends I have here are you and Luna, Luna’s to spaced out for my problems, she’s so happy all the time, she doesn’t need me bringing her down. And you, well you’re his best friend, like a sister to him, how could I tell you knowing that you would have to choose between the two of us.” Ginny’s voice was broken; the defeat in her voice that had never been heard before, apart from once, the only time she had sounded like this was around the time of Fred’s death. Hermione’s soft hand trailed reassuringly down the younger girls back, stroking the long red hair.
“This is about Harry.” There was no questioning in her voice, it was absolute, as there was no one else it could be.
“Ginny, he might be my best friend, my brother but you and your family are my family to, and you’re the sister I never got to have. Never think you can’t talk me just because of who I’m friends with, If you don’t want me to tell him, then I won’t- unless I have to. I’ll do what’s right for you, okay?” Ginny just nodded her head, her eyes closing, fighting back the tears that were still left to fall.
“You have to promise me that you won’t say anything to him.”
“I promise. Just start from the beginning.” The two girls changed places so that they could be facing each other.
“When I got the note from him, I didn’t know why, at first I thought it might just be some stupid joke my brothers thought they would be able to play on me, but when no other note came with it saying it was a joke I realised what it meant, he doesn’t want me, I’m not good enough or he’s found someone else. I waited for him Hermione, for a whole bloody year I waited for him, even after he crushed me the first time, he said he would never hurt me again but he broke his promise. I tried to forget and to get on with everything but it didn’t work, I couldn’t sleep, I can hardly eat, and even when I did I always felt sick afterwards, I started using Glamour charms to hide the dark circles under my eyes and I started to drink, I would sneak out of the castle, going through the passage to Honey-Dukes that the twins showed me in my third year, I would go to Aberforth, he can barely keep the Hogs head open and needs every last knut he can get, that’s why he sells to me, I blackmail him into it.” Hermione knew this was the most she would get from Ginny, she wouldn’t start gushing about her deeper inner feelings, because she would be embarrassed enough as it was.
“Look okay, I won’t say I know what you’re going through, I don’t. But I’ll help you Ginny, so will Luna, and so many others who love you, You are going to stay here tonight, and for the next week or two, no one will try to stop you because it isn’t against the rules, I’m going to stay with you okay, but you need to stop drinking all this firewhiskey, you need to eat some more. Try and sleep tonight, I won’t leave you for too long, I’ll just need to go and get some of my things from downstairs okay?” Ginny didn’t say anything, just burrowed under the thick quilts of Hermione’s bed, fully clothed, she rolled over, closing her eyes yet not falling asleep.
Hermione crept from her room down the stairs, it surprised her when she tripped, falling down the last few stairs, it was dark, the fire was out and no light come in through the windows, she let out a string of curses, words that were so rare coming out of the girls mouth many would have merely stood and stared at her as she lay on the floor, panting slightly, the sound of bare feet on stone came from the boys staircase, a blonde head could be seen peering about from around his staircase, wand alight with a ball of pale light, held aloft and ready to fight, when he saw the girl lay still on the floor, he walked cautiously over.
“Granger? What the hell did you do, it sounded like you just fell down the stairs.” She just threw him a look before sarcastically replying.
“And I thought you were the second brightest student at this school. I did just fall down the stairs idiot, it was too dark.” He smirked, surprising them both by reaching down and offering a hand to help her up.
“Actually I’m the brightest student at this school I just don’t feel the need to show it off unlike you.” She took his hand and he pulled her up, their faces close together.
“You, not show off? What deluded world do you live in Malfoy? I bet I’ll get better grades at the end of this year.”
“That’s a bet that I’m willing to take Granger.”
“You’re on Malfoy.” They shook the hands that were still grasped in each other’s before going to turn, Hermione towards the table in front of the fire that still held her books and Draco back to his room, but as he turned he noticed something, the arm of Hermione’s robe had ridden up when she fell, exposing the bandage that was tinged red over the scar on her arm that Draco had wrapped up many nights before.
“What is that?” He motioned down, looking at the white fabric that covered her thin arm. Hermione pulled her robe sleeve down over it, looking worried.
“It’s nothing, just forget it.” But Draco wouldn’t let it go, why was it still bleeding? It shouldn’t be, unless she was still getting nightmares.
“Tell me Granger, I know I wrapped that up for you over a week ago, it shouldn’t still be bleeding.” His voice was getting louder and louder, she began to raise her voice as well.
“I get nightmares okay! I scratch at my scar and make it bleed because I have to relieve your deranged aunt carving that word into my skin every night, I have to see you and your parents stood there doing nothing to stop it and knowing I have no power over it! Look, just forget about it okay, why should you even care?” What had been a fairly friendly moment had now turned into what could become a hideous argument. Realising they both had friends upstairs they stopped, listening for any signs of them being awakened by their shouting. Hearing nothing Hermione scooped up her books in one arm and turned to leave, brushing past the tall, good-looking boy who was frozen in place. He seemed to break out of his statue like form and turned to grab her wrist as she passed. Two words whispered into the dark of common room.
“I’m sorry.” No reply was made from the girl with the bouncing brown hair as she climbed back up the stairs, with nothing but a slight limp as evidence of her recent fall. Sighing in defeat Draco turned to climb his staircase.
Bloody Hell were the only words that came to mind.
~ There you go, Chapter 9 is finished. And we had more Draco in this chapter…yay. I gave them a cute fluffy moment but we can’t have that, not yet anyway, they have to argue sometimes right? Please review ~

This is kind of like a song version on Neville's speech in DH part 2. I do not have a clue what I wrote it but I hope you enjoy it.
Hold up your glasses it’s over and done
We fought and we fell but that not good enough
People die every day but we can’t let them die in vain
We try to keep moving, we try to keep fighting
Just one more step closer to the ending
If we mess it up give it one more tries
There just no game over were done
At least not tell we have won
We can lose everything
But that’s not going to stop us now
We can’t just walk away from the crimes that you done
Voldemort you going down
And way you can stop us
You can’t break us down
Hold up your glasses it’s over and done
We fought and we fell but that not good enough
People die every day but we can’t let them die in vain
We try to keep moving, we try to keep fighting
Just one more step closer to the ending
If we mess it up give it one more tries
There just no game over were done
At least not tell we have won
