Harry Potter Question

I´d like to work on videos...

Well, don´t mind me asking it here, but I don´t know who I should ask else. My problem is: I´d like to work on videos out of the internet, take out boring parts, put in text and music and so on...
But I don´t really know how to get the videos out of the world wide web into my computer, so that I have a real video document, not a link.
Can you help me?

I recommend downloading a trial version of a DVD Ripper (like Magic DVD Ripper) program, and rip the movies/trailers/whatever off your own, legal DVD copy, to your computer and work with those files.
