Harry Potter Question

How do you feel about Harry's character in Order of the Phoenix?

I have always seen different stances on this. I guess this question stems from the fact that I know a lot of people got annoyed even hated Harry's character in Order of the phoenix. I guess it's because of CAPSLOCK Harry. However I always loved his character in Order of the Phoenix in fact Order of the Phoenix Is one of my favorite books in the series. Just because I thought Harry was acting very human. Harry has lived a life of abuse with the dursleys and then had to go through all these very traumatic experiences and to me I feel he has been bottling his emotions a lot since book 1. Then we get to book 5 and suddenly Harry is more Human like he is letting his anger out and at some points letting it get the better of him. In book 5 he is dealing with not only his mind link to Voldemort but he has PTSD from the events at the graveyard and then has to deal with Dumbledore avoiding him to the point where he feels he has been abandoned, then has to deal with Umbridge. By the end of the Book Harry loses Sirius and has this huge eruption of anger that people have never really seen him display before. In fact Book 5 made Harry one of my favorite character and made appreciate and feel sorry for him more. So How do you personally feel about his character in Order of the Phoenix I am curious about everybody's thoughts and opinions.

I have heard a lot that people think he's "whiny", but honestly, I think that a major theme in the series is that nobody's perfect. Harry, who is typically seen as the "perfect" hero, isn't perfect by any means. J.K. Rowling made the HP books more realistic than you would think that a fantasy could be because she thoroughly developed her characters, giving them imperfections like real people, not perfect everything like storybook princesses. Harry is NOT a storybook princess, he's a person (fictional, you say? nope, pretty sure he's totally real) and he's got as much right as everybody else to let out his feelings once in a while. Like you said, it's what makes him human.

Actually, same as you. When I was the same as he is in the book (15) and younger, I thought he was great. He was so passionate and angry at the world and I had that same rebellious attitude. Now I'm 18 and I want to punch him in the face and tell him to sit the fuck down because he is just a kid.

As annoying as he his, it's amazing how perfectly his character is written. Writing something a 15 year old can totally feel is hard. It makes him a really good character and I love him.

I liked Harry best in the Order of the Phoenix. I was pretty angsty when I was younger and he was extremely relatable for me.

Well, Harry is my favourite character from the series, and I love him in every book. In "Order of the Phoenix" he was like a normal 15 year old teenager. Maybe he had some bad moments, but that's normal for his age. So, I don't get why people keep saying that Harry's character in "Order of Phoenix" was the worst. I mean, he was the same person...

I thought it was very realistic that he finally reacted the way he did in the fifth book. He'd suffered and gone through so much, and he was really alienated again that year. I also remember commenting while reading that he was finally acting like a teenager.

I have to admit that it was annoying to read all the complaining and capslocked shooting he did, though.

I agree with you totally. I think describing him as 'whiny' is extremely unfair, and people who say that should try putting themselves in Harry's shoes. They wouldn't deal with it any better than Harry does.
And I also agree with you that Harry is a good character in general. He is my favourite character :)

I completely agree with the comments above. I actually started loving Harry more in Order of the Phoenix. I can relate to everything he's thinking and how he acts.

Bruh, give him some slack. How would you feel if you've seen death and Lord Voldemort himself?
