Harry Potter Question

Have you ever wondered what the books would be like..

If Ravenclaw was the main house in the story? I'd like to think it wouldn't take 7 years for the characters to figure out how to beat Voldemort. And there would be a lot more intelligent quotes to ponder about

No, I never wondered that before. I do agree that there would be more intelligent quotes in the story and that it wouldn't have taken so long for them to figure out how to beat Voldemort.

I disagree, because Dumbledore was the one who told them how to do it, pretty much, and I don't think anyone else could have figured it out. It was Dumbledore's history with Tom that led him to it, not intelligence. Plus, would a Ravenclaw have had the courage to actually duel Voldemort? Maybe, maybe not.

Ravenclaws can be brave but not foolhardy brave like many gryffindors

I can imagine a Ravenclaw sorted Harry analyzing and thinking problems through rather acting first and jumping in to potentially dangerous situations

I think most Ravenclaws are brave, it's just that they pick their battles more carefully than a Gryffindor would. Harry was brave but he was also a bit stupid, always rushing off and getting himself into trouble because he didn't take the time to think first. If it weren't for Hermione (who really had more Ravenclaw tendencies than anything else) constantly talking sense into him, he probably would have died long before the seventh book from pure impetuous idiocy. I gotta say though, even though I'm a Ravenclaw, the books just wouldn't be as fun if they weren't from a Gryffindor POV. Harry's constant leaping before looking, while sometimes extremely frustrating, was was also very entertaining :D

Never once.

So you would rather have had the story only last five years? Or only three? What would the point have been to any of it? A Slytherin/Ravenclaw rivalry really doesn't interest me nearly as much as the Slytherin/Gryffindor rivalry does. It's a "brains vs. brawn" thing, not a "brains vs. brains" thing...and I just can't see a Ravenclaw Lily, James, Remus and Peter, and it's the Sword of Godric Gryffindor, not the Sword of Rowena Ravenclaw. ;)

Slytherins aren't defined by intelligence like Ravenclaws many slytherins such as Crabbe, Goyle, and Pansy aren't that and I think Slytherin/Ravenclaw rivalry would be interesting because generally Ravenclaws are open minded whereas many Slytherins are not plus Slytherins use cunning means to achieve their ends while Ravenclaws use creativity

You asked for opinions, so I gave mine. ;) "Well, if you'd rather be brawny than brainy..." quote from Severus Snape on the Hogwarts Express, upon meeting James and Sirius for the first time.
