Harry Potter Question

Explanation, anybody?

I was reading the Chamber of Secrets today and I found a couple of 'bloopers', but since I only have the translated copy it might just be mistranslating Rowling. Can you guys help, please?

1. Hermione says during Nick's party that Myrtle dwells in the toilet on the first floor. Later they chase the whispers of the Basilisk and find Mrs Norris on the second floor right on front of Myrtle's toilet. I bet that was the dumbass translator.

2. Percy actually deducts 5 points from Gryffindor. Later in OOTP the trio says to Malfoy that prefects cannot deduct points. So what? I don't remember well?

3. In the Christmas holidays the Weasleys stay at Hogwarts instead of accompanying their parents to Egypt to visit Bill. Right next summer (in POA) they visit him again? Ron says they spent the won money on the trip, so I assume it's damn expensive. How could they go twice in a row then?

4. Ginny says in the chamber of secrets that she's been dying to go to Hogwarts since Bill started. Well, maybe I'm mistake again, but isn't it said that when Harry Ron and Hermione started Hogwarts Bill had already finished for 7 years? Plus his seven years at school makes it 14 ago from Philosophers Stone and 15 from COS that Bill started Hogwarts. Ginny was not even alive to that time, since she's 11 in COS.

Sorry it's so long.

* makes it 14 years ago, not like the rest of it didn't suck... I suck at grammar.

1) I think that might have been your translator. My books always refers to Myrtle's toilet being on the second floor.

2)It was actually Ernie who said that, not the trio...
That was an error that JK and her editors corrected in later versions. The corrected text says that prefects can't take points from other prefects.

3)They could go twice in a row because they won the money to go. They saved up in CoS, and then won all the money they needed (and then some, because Ron and the rest of the Weasley's weren't too worried about school supplies and stayed at the Leaky for a few days). There was no expense the second time at all.

4)I think that's another error in translation. Charlie left Hogwarts only a year or two before Harry and the trio started, and there's only a two year difference between Bill and Charlie.
(I can't find any quote at all in my SS book about Bill. There's just a quote about Charlie.)

Thank you a lot. Anyway if Charlie left Hogwarts only a year or two before Harry and the rest of them started, how what about Gryffindor not winning the Quidditch Cup for 7 years /since Charlie Weasley left the team. Something like that was mentioned too. Thanks a lot for your answer anyway! :)

My book just says "we haven't won the cup since Charlie left." It doesn't say (in book one) when Charlie left.

This is what I think, about the last one you said anyway.
Since Bill was the first born, thus the first one to start atending Hogwarts,he probly told all his younger siblings how much fun Hogwarts was.So when Ginny was old enough to understand what he meant he told her.So she was excited.

I know that, but it seemed to me that there wasn't just say 6-7 years between Bill and Ginny but a lot more.

Bill didn't leave the year Harry, Ron and Hermione started Bill would have finished Hogwarts a decade before the Battle Of Hogwarts. Charlie left the year they started.

I didn't say Bill left the year they started, I said he left 7 years before they started, but it seems I just read that somewhere on the net.

oh right.

Bill would have been still going to Hogwarts while Ginny was growing up so she would have heard great stories about Hogwarts from Bill and the rest of her brothers.

answer to number 2:
prefects can deduct points. in OOTP they said prefects can't deduct points from OTHER PREFECTS. I think you just read it wrong.
