What happened to the dementors after Voldemort's defeat?

I mean, it is stated that they don't guard Azkaban any longer, but what do you reckon, where could they be?
I imagine them in some distant cave or something, not able to feed on humans anymore...Dunno...

Ah, well, I dunno, I expected a little tiny bit more from JK. I mean, I with Voldemort gone and how they have proved to be totally trust unworthy, I assumed they'd be off somewhere far away...But I guess if they are able to keep Azkaban safe, then they are doing SOME job. But if I were Kingsley, I would totally banish them from the face of the earth :)

i dont think dementors actually lose their power. they were not created by voldemort. they were already there.so my theory is:

1.they possibly fled away...
2.maybe the ministry took them back to guard Azkaban where many new additions were to come eafter the hogwarts battle. - they werent going to try anything dangerous with the dark lord gone.

anyways who bothers? thanks to the DA many young witches and wizards can now create patronuses to stop them. yeah *TEAM DUMBLEDORE'S ARMY!*
