Doctor Who Question

Why hasn't the Doctor had a Canadian or Welsh companion?

I know he's had companions from England, of coarse, as well as Australia, Scotland, United States and a few other unnamed countries as well as from different planets before.

But since Wales and Ireland are bart of Britian and Canada still recognizes the Queen, why not a companion from any of those countries?

I'm just curious.
