(before I start, I'm not saying a agree with these but its whats complained about)
Dumbo: Stereotypical Blacks (head crow's full name is Jim Crow)
Peter Pan: Racial slurs to Indians (What made the Red man red- "lets go back a million years to the very first indian prince, he kissed a maid and started to blush and we've all been blushing since)
Lady and the Tramp: stereotypical Asians
The Song of the South: Happy-go- lucky Jim crow like- slaves
Aladdin: All of the bad guys have heavy Arabian accents/ Depicts the Arabian's as heartless savages (ex: Jasmine getting hand cut off just because she took an apple, which in the middle east would never happen./ this doesn't exactly count as racism but.... the poor people in the middle east don't wear vests and MC hammer pants, and the Princesses don't wear sports bra's and Scrunchies
Again: I don't take the movies too seriously but in some cases (the Song of the South), the Critique is so bad that the movie is removed entirely from the public
However, I disapprove of it being there. So while I'm not a victim of any of it, I dislike that the racism is there and am aware that it can upset viewers.
Racist stereotypes (or any stereotypes, really) are actually pretty harmful in media, considering how gullible some people can be, so I do realise it's a problem.
