How much does it cost to own a cat?

Depends on the food you want to buy for your cat. There is really cheap stuff out there (which I wouldn't recommend). I spend circa 50 Euros each month (Germany).

You should assume that 1 cat will eat roughly 1 can of tinned food (c$A1) and a cup of dryfood/kibbles (box has four cups at c$A3) per day.

In Australia, one reliable statistic puts a year of cat ownership as roughly $A700.

I believe this includes food, vet bills and incidentals.

about $2-6 for your basic bag of cat food, feeding the cat 3 times a day, the bag should last at least a week, or you can buy a big bag for about $10 that'll last close to a month. and I have an indoor(in winter)/outdoor cat,so I usually don't have to worry about litter costs and stuff like that. so not a whole lot of money, but not necessarily cheap. :)
