i am just about to begin buying Buffy season eight and i am wondering if the long way home has 3 separate issues e.g. vol 1, 2, 3. i am buying online and it isn't clear please help.

Depends on you are purchasing the comics. If you are buying the TPB (trade paperback) releases, then those ones are actually four comics rolled into one. They release those shortly after they release the four comics that go into it. For example, "The Long Way Home" is actually a four part story arc, spanning issues #1 thru #4. "The Chain" is issue #5. "The Long Way Home" TPB has issues #1-4, but if you only pick up issue #1, you are still three issues away from reaching "The Chain" in the storyline. I think I made that understandable... sorry if it's a bit confusing. Check out Amazon or Dark Horse Comics and look at the item descriptions on their TPBs and regular issues.

The volumes are split up by story arcs. You can buy the volumes or buy individual comics. If you are confused, I suggest you by individuals, that way you won't miss anything.
