Breaking Dawn Question

when Edward is walking towards Aro, Bella shields everyone except Edward. So now he should not have been able to hear any one under the shield.. but still he remains oblivious to that fact.. how come??

I'm sorry the earlier comment was incomplete. It should have been 'but what about Aro from the time his skin comes in contact with Edward's?'
