Not anymore but I know when I was a kid the Chamber of Secrets in particular used to give me the heeby jeebies. Hearing a bodiless voice hissing "I SMELL BLOOD! KILL! KILL!" in an ancient magic castle really is scary for an 8 year old!

I don't really think they're scary anymore but they've certainly got a LOT of suspense which gets my heart racing!

Um, not really. I find them fascinating, adventurous, fast paced, and at times humorous. The last one was a bit... sad, although I did enjoy some of the lighter moments in the story. I found the first movie somewhat scary, but I was young at the time. I love these books and think they are fabulous.

Yes definitely, when you read them for the first time. And esp at the ends of the books. Just think of the part when Voldemort gets a new body in GoF, or when Dumbledore and Harry take the fake horcrux. I'm completely frightened sometimes when I read em, and I'm not an 8 year.
