I think it's safe to say that all of us, at some point, have had a crush on a fictional character/movie star.
I'll be honest with you: I used to be a huge fangirl of Link from The Legend of Zelda. Not fangirl crazy, but...pretty obsessed. I think that it's fine if you like a fictional character -- or the star himself -- and shouldn't be ashamed of it. Like I said before, people have had those moments and it's normal. I think that your friends should be a little less serious of the situation; I don't wish to take sides, but things like this aren't something to make a big deal out of.
But I can see their point, in ways. No, I'm not saying you're immature or that he "isn't hot". They probably just don't agree with the idea because they think it's strange to like someone who isn't actually real. I think that everyone needs to take a breather and go over some things. There's no need to get mad at one another or criticize everyone, as you have the experience of why all shouldn't: it can be frustrating, and overall it's rude. I wouldn't go so far to say that someone isn't "grown up" just because of their choice of a crush. And as for the "not hot" subject: everyone is different. You can't expect everyone to think that a certain person looks good, cute, handsome, etc. Everyone has their own mindset. It's fine to voice opinions, but there's a difference between that and downright flaming someone/something.
I believe that you should straighten things out with your friends, no fights included within. If they don't like him, that's fine, they're entitled to what they think. Just make sure that they know the differences of the opinions and what's going too far. Calling someone a child or "not grown up" isn't appropriate, and it doesn't say much for the person claiming these things. In other words, fights just aren't worth it. What's the point in it? It doesn't prove who's the weakest, strongest, smartest or dumbest. It just proves that there are those who just don't know how to settle things in a more appropriate way.
Good luck to you, and feel free to ask any other questions that you may have.
